I grew up having always been told that college and a steady 9 to 5 job is the way to go. Longevity in a career is ideal, & you'll get the opportunity to establish yourself the longer you stay.
Well...I did some of that. I went to college for 5 years, studied what I was interested in, and eventually worked my way up and landed what I thought was my dream job that I was at for almost 6 years. I thought I had made it & that my path was set. But the longer I stayed, the more burnt out, under appreciated, & anxiety-ridden I became.
Leaving was the bravest thing I had done in a long time! I had nothing lined up, but the stress relief & weight off of my shoulders from my job was instantly felt! I relished the freedom of my time, & being able to dictate my own schedule for a change!
I'm here to tell you that it IS possible to choose a different path. Take that leap and follow your heart!
